An Old Fool and His Angel

Spent last night dreaming
with Angels kind grace.
Took me on along
to her special place.
Woke again feeling
her love in my space.

Poem Artwork

They were again walking down the beach
holding hands, smiling, laughing, happy.
People of the town saw them daily
the tall gaunt old fool with his Angel.
This was how he had introduced her
and chuckled as he spoke of himself.
He with a small white beard about chin
and her flowing beside hand in hand.

No one knew from whence they came before
just that since joy followed wher they were.
While walking along just yesterday
the couple stopped and started to waltz.
Then a small lad tugged the Old Fools shorts
and asked how they danced, no song playing.
They laughed and the angel bent saying
listen to the music all around.

Often they sat on a bench at the trail
squirrels and birds would come to be near.
As they ate from gentle opened palms
the Old Fool and Angel sang loving songs.
When they would sit watching crashing waves
children came with crayons and paper.
Leaving after he drew them cartoons
butterflies for girls, critters for boys.

These two could be seen in predawn hours
sipping coffee on their deck chatting.
And found they were riding bicycles
sometime slow, some racing side by side.
An unruly child once up the beach
calmed and happily played once they had passed.
His mother and dad smiled as they left
whispered between of their bright green eyes.

Young and loving couples sat by near
to talk and ask about questions dear.
Angel would smile and tell them to love
Old Fool would say but laugh together.
All here hope they will be here ever
walking the beach, biking roads together.
For they express love to all around
the tall gaunt Old Fool and his Angel.

I really like this one. Lovely use of words.

Today I was being an old fool (of the female vanity kind) and needed reminding of angels.

Love the images of the Old Fool and Angel. An example of love in its most simple form. Thank you for this sharing :-))

Ode to the spread of joy, this poem permeates the crust of indifference. Your verse shines out a message that love shown to the observance of others is love shown to others, is love to others. Pretty neat. "For they express love to all around" - - isn't that the idea? "All here hope they will be here ever" show love to spread love. I savor these lines: "His mother and dad smiled as they left/whispered between of the bright green eyes." The spreading of love. "They laughed and the angel bent saying/listen to the music all around." "As they ate from gentle open palms" . . . this kind of vision is brought to us from a very sensitive soul. Thank you ~~ Diana

Beautiful, for what is shared in lovely dreaming can become reality of sharing and teaching. Something the world must see for themselves and learn, especially the children. For we are in such sad affair now, others need to observe the beauty...
For: "No one knew from whence they came before
just that since joy followed wher they were."
Isn't this all that matters?

For if I could teach the world to sing
in beautiful harmony
Forever sharing love and charm
Better off we'd be :)

For some, an angel. For others, their muse. Common needs prevail: harmony with self and nature allowing imagination to flourish. How rare today.

It was a dream, it sounds like the old who needs to get out his bicycle, head down to the beach, and see if he can find an angel accompany him to the end of his days with those walks and that praise.

There is a short story here. A heartwarming short story.
