Sometimes regrets come flooding back
Countless what ifs cause us to fear
No answers come with the soundtrack
Paper Tiger comes to my mind
A memory which I suppress
Love is not to be I’m resigned
Poetic words can never express
The chaotic thoughts of past times
When I hear Town without Pity
And the sound of Whispering Pines
Or any song by Conway Twitty
Yes...oh most definitely....
I tend to know what I was doing at any given time by the songs that were popular back then...If you're going to San Francisco..( be sure to wear some flowers in your hair) I was in my Dads car with the family in UK going over the Yorkshire Moors to Seaside town of Whitby....
George Harrison's 'Something' was out when I met my husband in '69'...
...and the wonderful Woodstock the first 45rpm to be played on my then new Record Player....
I could remember the whole of my life by the songs of the time...

Songs can often trigger memories of what we were doing when we first heard them. For some reason I was driving up in the hills overlooking San Francisco Bay when I pulled over and parked my car just to listen to a new song by the Beatles "Hey Jude." Or the time I first drove into West Virginia at Wheeling and John Denver was singing, "Country roads, take me home…"
And, I would add to your list in your poem any song by Bob Dylan, poet of the 20th century.
