Have You Ever?

Have you ever pounded on the walls
Out of pure jubilation?

Have you ever stopped at a traffic light in a seedy district
And howled a sweet hyenic tune?

Have you ever set out for a long swim
And returned to your boat four hours later?

Have you ever counted the flies on a lion's face in Africa
With only air between you and him?

Have you ever searched for a job in the Middle East
And settled for one in Johannesburg?

Have you ever admired Mount Everest
From the top of a nearby mountain?

Have you ever paused after a ten mile jog
And asked someone, "Which way is south?"

Have you ever set out from Luxembourg City and awoke,
Shivering under a bridge, wondering which country you were in?

Have you ever planned a cruise to Antarctica and Chile,
Wrapping it up with a New Year’s party in Rio?

Have you ever felt the sorrow of hearing a lady say,
"I’ve got fake plants until I find a home where plants are happy?"

Like the song says: "Life is a highway.
I want to ride it all night long!"

I beg the gods that everyone may find happy jubilation!
