For everyone who loves sailing and solitude, I hope you love this!

Poem Artwork

 “Island Dreams”

When the wind fills my sails

And the bow pierces the swells

Cares melt into the abyss

Sun warms your skin with its gentle kiss

A cool breeze caressing your face

The open water is a breath-taking place

The view is priceless and solitude of the richest kind

No computers, phones, faxes or paperwork to sign

Only you, "Island Dreams", the wind and the water

You are the captain of this charter

Like the wheel, clay and water for the potter

Here there is nothing to create

Only the metaphor equates

The sun and the sound of the waves

Are the necessities your soul craves

To be one with the ocean

Is an intoxicating potion

There are no chores to be done

No deadlines or important meetings to run

Your destiny lies in the wind

Your self-preservation is on the mend

With the island in plain sight

Dreams begin to take flight

When your feet touch the sand

Freedom is in the palm of your hand

That was my dream for many years, to sail off and treasure hunt scuba diving when I retire. Wonderful visions here.

Stay well and keep writing

Nothing more lovely than to sail
off to where your dreams take flight

I'm not much on sailing, although when I lived in California I went often because of the woman I was seeing. I do enjoy solitude, however, and I quite agree, that even with woman and the sailboat in California I came to a bit of peace and solitude even with her there, we both did, I think.
