Lights
Twinkle
Upon the sea of cloud
Like ships approaching shore.
Driven by dreams,
Maps of silver journeys
Strike a rhythm
Of wheeling home to you.
Dawn fells the fog
And behold!
The wakened mountain stands
Formidable, unscalable.
Ah, to dream once again,
To float to you,
Not in the stark clarity of day,
But on the moon’s silvery shadow.
This double meaning poem was inspired by a foggy view of the Hudson Valley near my home.
