My guide showed me a single pathetic lotus blossom growing in a concrete pond about 3 x 10' in front of the Egyptian Museum. I assume the reason the lotus was in such bad shape was because it was January and the temperature at night dropped down sometimes to near freezing.
With the new museum now open, I certainly hope the lotuses there will be more beautiful all year round.
