Poem Artwork

As night time envelopes me
ticking thoughts do think of you
All you were and things you said
devotion hued the color blue
You taught me the golden rules
through both love and song
Showing me your strength and faith
ten pillars strong...
To place first not other gods
no graven images shall I create
And never take his name in vain
while on Sundays for him I wait
I’ll honor those who gave me life
and no other shall I waste or kill
I’ll invade not my neighbor’s life
no morsel shall I steal
Bearing never false witnessing
though others please me not
and never covet what’s not of mine
less I dare my soul may rot
Mother you taught me the golden rules
with warm love and pleasant song
Though gone I hold your strength and faith
ten pillars strong...
I think at times that I’ve often failed
but your words have been so lifelong
I always gather and compose myself
and become ten pillars strong...

A nice interweaving of Mother's Day and the 10 Commandments. And, the golden rule.

Chanti, your tribute to your mother is overflowing with love from a daughter who rightly cherished and honored her. A beautiful rendering to share with everyone as we celebrate moms everywhere. Thank you. May peace and love be always with you. Jon Michael

The beauty of your love is a shrine unto her heart and soul. The beauty of her love is the same love you have shown in your thoughts. May the blessings of mothers day always remind you of her love forever. Thank you for reminding all us how wonderful our mothers are....

River of Memories: An Appalachian Boyhood by David Thompson

For a time, I perched myself on a flat rock, comparing my life with the Guyandotte River. Just as its tributaries replenish it daily, changing it in some small—sometimes great—degree, so have the day-to-day occurrences of life changed me. Like the ri
