Salute To Our U.S. Air Force

Dedicated to:

Brigadier General David S. Nahom,

United States Air Force

And

To all military women and men who are now

active, retired and who gave their life

A U. S. Army Air Force pilot,

Robert MacArthur Crawford’s words,

“Off we go into the wild blue yonder,

Climbing high into the sun,”

Now known as the official song of the

U.S. Air Force.

Oh how all the stars shined bright,

When the Wright brothers accomplished

their first flight.

It was the day of the twenty-second,

The month of May, so they say,

In the year of nineteen hundred and six,

Through the night, men saw a light.

A patent on a flying machine was the scene.

For it was not long, nineteen hundred and

seven,

Some thought they were in heaven;

When men and women stood strong,

Singing that special song.

From the Aeronautical Division of the

U.S. Army Signal Corps—

Forerunner of the U.S. Air Force established,

Lavished to say the least when news was

released.

Oh how our Air Force planes reflect crystals,

Not pistols in the air, shooting sunrays of

history, which some will always be a mystery.

Setting speed records, dedication, and

determination, fellow U. S. Airmen, who

carried their cross, we bear their loss.

Through the growth of our flying machines,

Devoted men and women take their oath.

Fly, fight and win is a mission with ambition.

To name a few, we knew;

Blanche Stuart Scott,

Amelia Earhart, and Bessica Faith Raiche,

Who flew throughout the sky, as they were

not shy.

Another world the heavens hold in the air

when in flight,

It is sometimes an unbelievable site.

For it is, the month of March, nineteen

hundred forty-one,

Before all is said and done,

The flying unit of African American men is

formed, later will calm storms.

The 99th Pursuit Squadron was set in motion,

Holding the heroic men who gave their

devotion.

Tuskegee Airmen, these fearless men are

known, shall always be written in stone.

“Old Glory,” flying high in the month of

June, in the year nineteen hundred forty-one,

We are not yet done.

The United States Army Air Force was

formed and still perform.

In the month of September, on the eighth

day, of the nineteenth forty-seventh year,

We do not fear, for we give birth on this

earth,

The United States Air Force.

With no remorse, the U. S. Air Force set a

course,

For our men and women who wear the

uniform of blue, you stand true .

Our U.S. Air Force we honor,

As each man and woman hold their

position,

“Fly, fight and win is the mission.”

Off you go into the wild blue yonder,

We do not have to ponder.
