"Old Glory " Our Flag by JillDill Vincent 

Millions walk throughout lands and see men take stands. Flags of countries are symbols displayed; some, making sure one has not strayed.

Colors of red, white and blue, United States Flag speaks loud, flying proud. Privileged are we, living in a land of the free. Adopted by Congress, June 14, 1777, our country now had a flag, and all were glad. A Marine Committed sat in a city  from the Second Continental Vongress and adopted a resolution towards a solution. In Philadelphia, PA, the Marine Committee read;

"Resolved, that the flag of the United States be thirteen stripes, alternate red and white; that the union be thirteen stars, white on a blue field representing a new constellation."

Around 47 years passed, our flag would soon be harassed. Captain William Driver, 21 years young, had developed a sharp tongue.

Love for his country and a man of conviction, he would soon be facing infliction.

Preparing for a voyage, he would e joy, as captain of a ship, he would not slip. Made for Captain Driver, by his mother and other women, an American flag, 12x 24 feet, it was now complete.

His American Flag expanded, and flying, there was no denying, her length showed strength. Standing on the bow, he shouted as he scouted:

"God bless you. I'll call it "Old Glory". Captain William Driver
