Oh Lord in every eye I see
the search for some divinity;
in every passing hour I spend,
I see the plight of faithless men.
The learned who so much resist,
The rush to prove You don't exist,
is proof against their own vain guess;
their minds say no; their hearts say yes.

Oh Lord reveal to each of us
the splendor of true faithfulness,
which is not knowing how or why,
but simply knowing when to cry
for strangers left without a home,
for widows when their love is gone,
for children gripped in hunger's jaws,
for those who build religious walls.

Oh Lord reward the humble man
and all of those who understand
to be your slave is to be free,
to close our eyes so we can see.
Reason will soon dissolve away,
and so will vain philosophy;
but you, Oh Lord, shall never die;
Your truth lives through eternity.
