When I am with you,
Stars don’t shine any brighter;
They shine as they are.
Reality smiles.
I don’t seek escape from life:
Only clarity.
People make mistakes
When they seek relationships
To give them refuge.
A relationship
Should offer understanding:
Never confusion,
Never distortion.
You are not just a life-line
Of desperation
But a ship of truth.
I don’t need distorted views
Of stars, or flowers,
Or birds, or music;
But I seek to know these things
As they truly are:
As they should be known.
Show me a thousand loves lost,
And I’ll discover
Care mistaken for love.
Emotions can be helpful,
Clothed in honesty.
If I seek a star,
Let it shine as it exists:
Not as poets dream.
Our relationship
Is not a refuge for two
But open sharing.
Reality lives!
So I am never confused
