Jeff, just as the right music can invoke an emotional response so does your writing in this piece and several of your others I had the pleasure of enjoying today. Dave

One of yur best yet Jeff...and I am so slow to even discover it despite the notice. Sometmes our best work comes from emotional pain as we reach into ourselves and spill all the colors of self. But here, you allow the reader the pallet and the brush just as you reach out to those who surround your pallor of slate.
Love,
Taylor

I don't think there was anything about this poem that I didn't like. The imagery is wonderful, and the rhyme scheme is done ever so nicely. The last line says it all well done.

Hmm ~ perhaps it is only your suit that is dark. When I was thrown into slavery, it was with my hands tied and drugs forced down my throat. I am white as snow and as cold as the icycle on the rear seat of my bike.

A palette of metaphor, this poetry canvas balanced in the easel groove, brushstroke of excellence...before this paint dries, write another poem of this caliber and hang it in this Den with all of the other fine art represented here, Jeff...paint of me a picture dark gains respect for the use of feelings and moods, tenderness, caring, and sharing...

I love the concepts here, Jeff, and the paradoxes of mood and emotion in the discovery and highlighting of the more monotone shades. Interestingly, this has the effect of bringing these often overlooked hues into a kind of worthy technicolour of their own... like Vicente's whitewashed fountain Alexandra speaks of below... and the irridescence of slate can be amazing. Thank you for making me think and appreciate all this. And I very much enjoy the thought of employing a palette of sombre hues to paint a true and beautiful picture - like appreciating the sharpness and purity of black and white photography over colour. Bless you, Kate xx

"i am awash with slate today"... what an image, wow! Indeed, our "colour true" is, so often, one "awash with slate" - and we won't find the light, what our fellow author Jorge Vicente calls the "whitewashed fountain", if we don't come to terms with our "somber shades" first. The metaphors are simply tremendous, dear Jeff - this is exceptional poetry! (Many wholehearted thanks for your amazing comments on my work)
Love,
Alexandra*
