loss of modality

"Moving on" is easy to talk about; "hanging on" is easy to do.

Monday, April 20, 2015

i've never had a martini
but i know that sunburn hurts
that's why, when I draw in pastels, i always use some burnt orange

martinis must have a burning sensation on the tongue and throat
but hummingbirds' wingbeats cure hangovers

so... the only thing that really matters is synchronicity
the way that everything happens for a reason
allegedly or not
one reaction arises from some other action in this grand universe

sure, it's easy to talk about "moving on," but
the action is less forthcoming, even though
"hanging on" hurts so much more than hangovers

but, if you've never had anybody who truly believes in you...
except for that one, solitary soul mate;
is a little "closure before departure" too much to hope for?

after all, nobody said poems have to rhyme
so life (and death) choices don't have to make sense;
they simply have to matter.

i broke your heart first,
so maybe we'll never be even;
no matter how many times you break mine;
no matter how many reasons you give to justify shutting me out...

but if you think your coldness makes me love you any less --
it only punishes me;
it only hurts me;
it only kills me;

but, without you, i'm dead anyway.

You, dear friend, deserve your love and your kindness and affection now, as much as anybody else in the whole world.
We do ourselves a favor when we let go of those who damage our spirit.
Blessings and always know you are loved as you are,
Christine

Such a strong pull on the heart. Sadly I know how this feels. You have expressed yourself in a powerful and meaningful way. I hope that the pain lessens so the lessons remain.

I love martinis, they are a delight to the taste buds. Since I drink only one or two I've never experienced hangovers that are so legendary. But, you are right about hanging on and that life doesn't rhyme like a beautiful song.

I sense a sense of asking for forgiveness now that you are, "hanging on." Don't let go too soon. I like your poetry.
