Birth of a Song

by Jeff Mason — Read all 207 poems by Jeff Mason

Saturday, October 25, 2003

Sometimes, at 2am, it will hit me,
And I'll have to get up and hum a tune,
And put some words down on paper.

Sometimes, the words and melody get me,
As I think about the glow of the moon,
Or some mysterious caper.

Sometimes, it's an uphill battle; but thankfully, that's rarely so.
I seem to be inspired of late; exactly why, I do not know.
As if someone is guiding me, and knows precisely where things go.

It must be someone from up above, hard at work on me again,
Guiding my faltering imperfect hand, another song to pen.

Inspiration usually comes out of thin air for some or others have a favorite desk and/or spot where they create. Have to say my muse likes to remain a mystery. ;).
