Not only to myself...but also to My mother, Beverly Ryan, and one of my best friends, Jeff Mason....And the person it was written to, Losson Buchanan
It happened;
I lowered myself
to feel for once,
and all I got
was pain and misery;
Tell me...
What is it like
to be cried over?
To be the reason
for pillows to soak,
for hearts to ache,
for pain to be felt?
To be the reason
why I want to die,
why I wish
for my heart
to be closed,
and why I risk
EVERYTHING for the sake
of being with you?
Then, tell me
what is it like
to rip apart
the only person
who helped you in your times of need,
when you wanted to die,
when your heart ached,
and you cried
over someone
who did it all
to you?

An unsual and arresting write in many ways, with a plaintative and honest voice throughout -- a wonderfully "mature" write for someone who says they've been described as "immature", (like those terms have actual meaning when applied to the non-empirical, emotive filter of Reality into an individual human mind...). A brave and true write, very well executed!
WOW! Thanks for the homage. Nikki -- this is QUITE profound! Ohhh, do I ever feel the pathos and aching of this BEAUTIFUL prose! You've eloquently portrayed a cycle of caring, and loss thereof. Please be ok, and please call me if you need to! This is definitely a keeper. -- Jeff
