What God said to Adam and Eve in the first days of creation...
Creator Song

I send you out into the world my dear ones.
Here is light and shade; and I see that it is good.
Here are the waters of life poured forth in shimmering splendour
all for your delight and to nurture your thirst;
behold, here is a paradise of sunlight scattering
diamonds of fire on the ocean,
sunlight filtering through the leaves of tall palms and little olive trees
in splinters of dappled emerald light and shade;
here are dazzling white sands and shady mangroves
it is all for you, for I love you, my children;
you belong to me
and to all of the earth.
I send you out, dear ones, amid the steamy jungles,
out to swim free in the dancing liquid light of rivers and streams,
I set you free in a garden of plenty.
Here are fountains and waterfalls overhung with intoxicating
swags of white jasmine and scarlet hibiscus
entwining with vines heavy with ripened grapes.
Flamingoes and bright parakeets fly out of the
greenery before you, in a flurry of rainbow fire.
Rejoice in this life I give you
and take care of this beautiful domain.
Keep it safe; make it last
and you in turn will last;
safe in an infinity of peace.
I send you out into the world my treasured ones,
free to walk naked, resplendent in the satin of your skin;
needing to conceal nothing from the sun's nurturing rays
or the eyes of beasts, or each other's loving gaze.
Behold, you are pure and untainted with shame;
you have the freedom of earth's bountiful beauty
and you are lovely as the flowers that carpet the forest floor.
Taste freely of the berries and the sweet delight of earth's nectar,
Let the pollen of the lotus bring you dreams of deep serenity.
Only touch not the fruit of the tree by the dark
fountain sealed. The Tree of Knowledge
is mine to know and yours only
to behold in silent wonder.
Mark this well, my children,
for it is my only rule.
Your words create such an inspiring scene of untold wonder and unparalleled beauty...
Yet the one thing that is forbidden is always the most attractive and magnetic...

I am amazed at the variety of responses to this wonderful poem. I believe it with all that I am. So much that is told in the bible does also speak of the future, and the analogy is logical that this speaks of the end. However, God is the Creator of all and He had and has the right and authority to make boundaries and rules as He wishes.
That said, I pray that all who read your beautiful poem will "Taste and see that the Lord is good" (a quote from the Bible).
This is a beautiful work, flowing softly and sweetly from a gifted pen.
Thanks very much for your comments, Edward, Joseph, Jerry, Ronald and Richard ... I wrote this partly as imagining what God said to Adam and Eve in the first days of planet Earth, and partly because I believe that the story of the Garden of Eden could actually be an encoded prophecy. If it is a prophecy, then planet Earth is actually the Garden of Eden and we have already bitten the apple from the Tree of Knowledge by using scientific knowledge to make nuclear weapons and genetically-modified plants and animals. When this beautiful world is finally destroyed by our darker creations, we, the sons and daughters of Adam and Eve, will be kicked out of Eden as the world ends, and only the innocent souls will attain eternal life.
"You come of the Lord Adam and the Lady Eve," said Aslan. "And that is both honor enough to erect the head of the poorest beggar, and shame enough to bow the shoulders of the greatest emperor on Earth. Be content." C.S. Lewis from Prince Caspian. A delightful composition, Sarah. The piece flows and has a marvelous fragrance. Peace to you... rlc
It certainly would be wonderful if our world was like that. Unfortunately, the holier than thou police are in charge of the Bible and its interpretation.
Oh my God! This is what I would call the poem of centuries, brilliantly penned and very ingenious. This in my opinion is the best poem I have seen not only on the authorsden website, but any website I have ever surfed. My God Sara, you are a genius.
This is a beautiful tale that did not happen, but it nevertheless contains so much beauty and inspiration that it is a wonder to read. That Tree of Knowledge defies logic and makes no sense at all. Perhaps it serves this purpose: You are forgiven for mentioning it.
Robin Ouzman Hislop's poetry is certainly in dialogue with some of the key architects of the 'poetics of indeterminacy' – both the Modernist strands represented by the likes of Beckett and Stein, and the postmodernist strands represented, initially,
