Remembering Will Have To Do

Memories are worth everything to me. They get me through the most difficult times in life. Times of the past are never gone when we carry them in our minds

 

Remembering Will Have To Do

 

If I could create a picture book of

memories from the past,

every chapter a masterpiece 

of unforgettable moments rehashed.

What a pleasure it would be

to turn a page each day,

reliving all the happy times

that quickly passed away.

Smiles I miss from loved ones

where heaven is their home,

babies all grown up now

with children of their own.

Summer rains and winter days

autumn leaves that fell,

snow capped pines at Christmas time

I remember so very well.

Oh what a pleasure it would be

to flip the pages through,

for now I see them in my mind

so remembering will have to do.

Beautifully written with such lilting rhyme it would make a beautiful song.

You reminded me that every time over the years we were able to get back to our parents house that moved from time to time to different places, we would pull out some of the old albums that go through them from front to cover with mom's notations under each photo. Bringing back memories of all those happy times when those pictures were taken.

I hardly know what to say, for it seems that anything I might say about this piece is insufficient. There are times, when I read a poem or read through a passage in prose, that I wish I had stated what that person had written for others to enjoy. I don’t want it to be from a jealous heart but to simply be from the beauty of that person’s words. That is how this piece has drawn me to its beauty. It cannot be explained, only enjoyed. I love it, and I shall now read it for the third time. Thank you, Kathy, for sharing this lovely piece.

Memory is such a beautiful gift…
Forever with us when we need to remember…
I feel all of those feelings too Kathy..
and remembrance is bitter sweet…
but all within that great circle of life…
