This poem was written in memory of my daughter Ava, who left this world too soon according to me, but God had allowed me to have her for almost thirty years before he took her to paradise awaiting the second coming of Jesus Christ: and for that I am grateful.
THE FIFTH SEASON
There is winter, spring, summer, and fall
and then there is the most beautiful season of all
Ava
Winter is so very cold It is light, bright, and white with snow
It turns blue when lit by the moons glow
Spring is so colorful as the flowers are all abloom
she erases all of winters gloom
Summer is just so hot and sticky
and though the liveliest of seasons sometimes it can be just plain ol' icky
Fall in all its glory
is the last of the yearly season, and prepares us for another story
It is when the leaves from the trees though pretty fall dead to the ground
and when walked upon make a crisp, crackly sound
it is the time when everything goes to sleep
It is when we say our prayers and ask God, "our souls to keep"
And then there is the season of Ava, she entails all the qualities of winter, spring, summer, and fall
this makes her the most beautiful season of all
she was a winter's storm
she was the springs weeping willow
she was the summer's sun
she was falls golden leaves that fell from the trees
the birth and death of this season knocked me to my knees
Ava, the fifth element, the fifth season if you please
