of lovers and chameleons

tonight i am Ginsberg
reciting poetry on stage
in my underwear

tell me:
why should Romeo and Juliet
hold exclusive rights
to the death of love[ers]

(roll camera three
lets see the scene
from a new angle...)

you, smiling your confident ancestral smile
and me trying not to give the silence words...

everyone needs a way
to wash their hands,
to be progressively blameless
or pure in their longing
to be
so
pure with[out] dirty hands

Yours was always the life
     violated:
lies,
     promises,
               stop signs,
                           words.

tonight i fear
i am more of a chameleon
than a lover...

Fantastic! Nothing more needs to be said except that I'd love to have you as a member of my website. You'll find a link on my pages.
BTW Dancing with Chameleons is the tentative title of my upcoming book of love poetry.

As an actor myself I can almost feel you on the stage enuciating your lines in a dramatic sweep of your hands towards the audience. I like it.

A gem of a thought process. This poem is quite inviolable in its spiritual undertones me thinks. I'll pass on the performance in only underware though. Sorta reminded me of the Red Hot Chili Peppers some years back, when they performed naked with only a sock over the jewels. YIKES!

I love Ginsberg's poetry, and I love the honesty in this open write: a changeling, you are! Can picture you on stage reading this. What an intriguing image: well done, Cedric.

A great modern poem. I read a bit about Ginsberg since I have not much knowledge about US poets. Quite contraversial. Victor

Simplicity in appearance, but unique poetry in essence...

Blimey Miss, your poetry is outstanding...

If I didn't know better I'd kinda think you n KB were the same person, but 10 000 miles kinda proves that theory wrong..lol

BTW any pics of the recital..lol

stunning conclusion and the subtle play of parentheticals :} must say my favourite line is "pure in their longing to be....pure with[out] dirty hands" egads, the hiddens.ness of what we do trying to put it behind our backs so that no one else recognizes/sees the 'us' of relity. .. ..and its such an honest camouflage, never inteding to hurt, just protect [sometimes even others besides ourselves] such an artist youa re. ..
love the line breaks----
indeed~

Sorry if I can't read this poem in my underwear, but will be looking around to see if I can spot that little chameleon with little clothing on. Broken promises are like broken arrows, useless, and to the exclusivity of Romeo and Juliet I will counter...kiss a frog, cross your fingers and see what happen.
Lovers and Chameleons, aren't they the same thing?
Georg
