Memories of Childhood.

I don’t want to forget
the windswept walks
on Pen Dinas Head,
among the yellow gorse
and purple heather,
in all kinds of summer weather.

I don’t want to forget
the winding river,
that skipped through
verdant grass,
meandering through
the village
till each reached the sea.

I don’t want to forget
the friendly promenade -
the trampolines,the donkeys,
the games on the pier,
the photographs.

I don’t want to forget
Borth Beach,
and stacked-up stones,
the sand-dunes, where we ran,
the deep whirlpools,
the car-rides,
going home.

I don’t want to forget
that old stone house,
the archway where I called
out loud,
and heard your voice,
“Cariad,Cariad!"
as if in echo.
