Surprisingly it took me almost 3 hours to write this one! Could have something to do with the fact I caught a rerun of Voyager I hadn't seen!

A kiss goodbye was all she got
As her Daddy ran out the door
He had been called back
He had to go fight a war

She dreaded every ring of the phone
Until she heard his voice once more
She was old enough to understand
That he may never walk back through the door

She wrote him every day
Just to tell him she was doing okay
She even sent him pictures
That she had drawn for him everyday

Six months of the same routine
Suddenly the phone wouldn’t ring
She actually wasn’t worried
She kept to her same routine

She knew her Daddy would call
She knew he would walk back through the door
Even though he was fighting a war
She knew he would come through the door

Daddy came home one day
He walked through the door
She didn’t care that he limped
She only cared he came through the door
