The rating is for the content. I try to rate things appropriately since all of my poetry goes under that instead of trying to decide what it is.
I fought with myself about posting this poem because I have a tendancy to get a complex when I don't think it's good...

There’s a rapper that says his ideas are nightmares to white parents.
My lifestyle is, apparently, a nightmare to the US government and most parents.
You should be lucky to, only, fear your child liking dyed hair and earrings.
The government is so scared of us that rights aren’t given unless we beg and plead
And even then they laugh in our faces as we plead to have legal marriages.
But I’m still damn proud to be an American!

I live my life under the Red, White and Blue, proud for all we get to do,
But it really irks me when we can’t have the simple things it matters to have.
All I want is my first amendment right.
How can I pursue happiness if I can’t take a wife?
It shouldn’t matter if you’re straight, gay, red or blue.
It’s a matter of who you want to be with you.

I’m still damn proud to be an American!
No one, but me, can take that away and
I’m not just going to slink away.
I’m going to stand up and fight!
Just so others can have the right.
To one day be able to say: “I’m Gay and I’m not going away!”

The government is trying to get us to run
But that definitely wouldn’t be any fun.
But they still try to take away
All our rights but this is what I have to say:
You’re losing the battle and one day
We’ll all be able to stand up and say
We’re all damn proud to be Americans
Because it shouldn’t be any other way
