I wrote myself alone
On a hill with my sketch pad
Until you came to me
There we sat
Alone together
In companionable silence
And I drew
With my words,
The shape of a song
Only you will hear.
I write that we stand
Alone in a forest
Planning our lives together
And I sing
With my sketches
The shapes of words
Only you will read
I imagine a day
Of companionable silence
You Alone
With me
And I’ll write
With a symphony
The shapes of the trees
Only we will see.
While a picture may take the place of a thousand words, your words in this poem draw pictures of another kind. Your poem is quite intimate and reflective, seemingly for just you and your lover. But it would be a waste for us not to be able to read your thoughts expressed.
