Constricting speech
Iron bands tighten
Prohibiting voice
As torrents of emotion scream
Dying to be heard
In the decay of a suffocating reality
Until hope blooms
Dispelling darkness
Sight blinded by sound
Cascading down
Around my ears
Filling my mind
Everything full and bright
Auditory world of sunlight
And I sing.
This makes me think of giving birth--knowing there's something wrong--that you're dying, and then the baby cries, and all is forgotten in a bloom of new love.
