Inside of me, I know you.
We’ve met before in my dreams.
We’ve talked before as you sat across from me
Next to me
While doing…anything
Or nothing at all.

I’ve shared with you my darkest thoughts
My innermost wanderings,
Without fear
Of being judged.
I’ve told you things that I could not even speak to myself
And you accepted me
Without batting an eye.
What comfort that gave me.

Inside of me, I know you.
I’ve imagined you before in the waking hours
When life slows down and becomes shadows of reality
And the stillness awakens dreams, and nightmares.
Which terrify me when I
Open the recesses of my soul
And watch, detached, as you step through
Unafraid of what you will do
What you can do
To me.

I shudder not, with the knowledge that you possess
Secrets with which
You can hurt me
More violently than death
And yet
I remain safe.
Without doubts of betrayal
There is no possibility of broken trust.
I am unharmed
By my revelations,
Forever.

Inside of me, I know you.
As you sit there and look intently with your bright eyes
Staring into mine.
I can feel your breath reach into my chest and touch my heart
And hold it in suspense.
With the most delicate of hands
As I fall away and allow the weight of my hidden self to be shared
With you.

For,

Inside of me, I know you
I just never realized that you were real
And that on this so unspecial day.
I would find you sitting there
Wondering…
Do you know me?

a very thought-provokin' peom...eye imagine the "you" inside your poem as one's inner subconscious or inner twin-self....who is our constant shadow...whose qualities we instantly recognize in a soul mate if we are lucky enough to find one....a great poem 2 read & reread again & again.....zalute...poeticallyours...m.&orf

To know yourself you must dig deep into your inner feelings. Feel that is what you did here. Nice write *********

I love your poem Andrea, I would love to have seen it end: For inside of me I felt and knew you before you were even born......

You Look FatCalgary by RickthePoetWarrior

Using Calgary as a backdrop the author satirizes the self-serving nature of the public as it continues to fatten itself, not only physically, but egotistically as well.
