Living in Southern California as we do with thousands coming and going daily, unearned, untested trust is oftentimes foolhardy and naive. For many people, taking advantage of someone's trust is a way of life. It's the way they make a living.
Trust in God and trust your own judgment.
One reliable test is to discover the reality of in whom or what does the other person place their trust? If they don't place their trust in God, then their values are different from mine. Sometimes a first clue is observing that they don't trust anybody but themselves.
Forgive me for preaching, but Satan's emissaries are everywhere.
When God comes first, everything else falls in proper order.
Profound statement that is a big commitment in love and in the ones we pull close to our hearts in a protective shield. Blind trust is the hardest of all, for although I believe trust must be earned, if it is given blindly, when or if that trust is broken so is the innocence of the heart broken forever.
Becoming aware of and loving ourselves (not in the vanity sense) is a prerequisite to loving others. Trust has to be earned as well as learned. For me, cynicism grew the more I was betrayed throughout the years. Mercifully, this negative feeling has largely diminished. I let my intuition play the trust card. Loving someone in Christ's name is almost a mantra in church circles. One wonders if this act is a copout to love in one's own name. The mind boggles.
