bathing the kids

I was worrying
Questioning why
You 'd work this late
While you were holding her
I was calling
But your boss said
You left at four
While you were loving her
I was packing,
getting the kids up
Going out the door
While you were leaving her
I was driving
Watching the road signs
Clearing my head
Then When You Came Home
You called my cell phone
I could have answered
But tossed it instead!

Excellent piece, Nora...I love the way you did this piece, it really sets a mood and creates an intense read. And the ending, though painful, was great!

It has taken years for the sting to subside, but when i wrote a poem titled "Goodbye", the healing began.
