No sea carries further

Than to its shore

You my horizon

Like fishermen with hats of straw

The heroes of my last days sail

Sun-seasoned

Upon the waves

Of Calypso's

Nostalgia

I watched them

From Gozo's soul island

Of stone

And blue light

And I saw you sail among them

Ya Habib al 'ouyoun

As the sea sighed from afar

If there were happiness in this world

If there were

My stream would know itself

By my name

GHAWDEX

Kein Meer trägt weiter

Als bis zu seinem Ufer

Du mein Horizont

Wie Fischer mit Hüten aus Stroh

Segeln die Helden meiner letzten Tage

Sonnengegerbt

Auf den Wellen der

Nostalgia

Kalypsos

Ich sah ihnen nach

Auf Gozo's Seeleneiland

Aus Stein

Und blauem Licht

Und ich sah dich fahren unter ihnen

Ya Habib al 'Ouyoun

Als die See von fern seufzte

Wenn es Glück auf dieser Welt gäbe

Wenn,

Du würdest

Meinem Strome innewohnen

such a blossom of love and poetry is proof that our home, which they claimed was a barren desert, could have never been but alive and abloom.
