Seasons of Compassion Mindfully Considered

by Aberjhani — Read all 107 poems by Aberjhani

One of the better things about a cold blast of winter like the one many felt recently is how it inspires reflective poetry and thoughts on the future.

Poem Artwork

1.

Winter knows itself
a temporary landscape
devoted to Spring.

Snow and ice therefore
wisely adjust their dreams to
warmer shades of love.

2.

Spring’s emerald lips
upon Earth’s blue cheeks whisper
ancient golden vows.

Kindness acknowledged--
turns into joy sweetly shared
in this new season.

3.

Seeing how power
gives or destroys life… the Sun
welcomes Moon’s wisdom.

Circles unbroken
by war, famine, greed, or hate
shine like newborn souls.

4.

Autumn’s eyes glow bronze
with reconciliation
prepared for the cold.

Threads of time and grace
weave of compassion a shawl
perfect for Winter.

Some very colorful and even instructive words about the seasons and how they affect us and nature all around us. Enjoyed your insight. Growing up in the coldest part of the United States and experiencing many snowing fronts all winter, too long, and even cold and rainy summers, I can relate. The chilling, killing nature of winter also preserves, under ice and snow, all the seeds of upcoming amazing regrowth from spring into summer, and then, the abundance of harvest.

The season, mindful of how we, ourselves look at them have a mind, it seems of ther own. We are therefore left wistful of a warmer day throughout winter, cooler days as we bake during the summer. etc. Never quite satisfied, somewhat like life itself.
