Cunningly he lay
In the pet shop cage.
He purred and snuggled
in my daughter's arms.
"He loves me!" sighed my daughter
her eyes alight with joy.
Up with the tail, the kitten proved
to be a little boy.
In the car he snuggled
in my arms and purred.
"He really is a sweetie,"
said my girl, and I concurred.
And when we got him home he underwent a kind of change
No snuggles and no cuddles. No purrs. I think it strange.
That kitten bluffed us both a bit
pretending to be sweet.
Claws and spits come out to play-
(he's decorative, at least...)
But where is Kitten Jekyll, who sweetly purred that day?
He's gone. He isn't needed now, and Kitten Hyde holds sway!
