Have you heard or seen this plaint?
Espoused it for yourself?
"Animals don't wage a war,
or hoard their looted wealth."

But wait-

Have you ever been to a free-range zoo
Where all the aniamls are on view?
Zebras and giraffes all day
Share a paddock, share the hay-
And do they live in harmony?

Do they - WHAT!

The zebras bully one another,
Snapping teeth together
They force giraffes to run away
They will not share the hay.
Cows on the farm have leaders
Who always go in front
They prod the others with their horns
And pigs neglect their runts.
Cows will sometimes chase a dog
And rats will hoard their food
Chimpanzees hunt monkeys
When they're in the mood
Birds will peck each other bald
And cats lose ears and eyes
Elephants destroy the trees
And never wonder why.
A pit bull came to our house
And almost killed our pet
A fight between two stallions
Will often need the vet
Black cows and brown will often make
Two mobs in the one run
Don't care to graze together
Hens gang up on one -
Some birds are keen on spouse abuse
They really hurt each other
Animals, you understand
Need *not* love one another
They don't behave the way we wish
We could believe they do
And so perhaps we should accept
That animals are human too!
