This is one I wrote for an anthology, but the editor didn't like it. Might as well find an audience here?
Seven Bears.
I'm putting my bears away
Off my chair they go
Into the cupboard, one at a time
Sitting mournful on the shelf
I'm putting away my kiddish self.
Wrapped up in seven bears.
I'm putting my bears away
A stage at a time.
From bed to chair to shelf they've gone
They sit behind the cupboard door
Above the sneakers on the floor
Seven silent bears.
I'm putting my bears away
For other things
From chair to shelf they've gone. Who knows?
If one day, far or soon
They'll leave my room
These seven bears.
I'm putting my bears away
Renouncing them
From shelf to cardboard box they've gone.
They've set me free
But who will love them after me?
My seven bears.
My computer's Monitor shelf and my printer top are home to several bears, I recently posted a poem about the two beanie bears on the printer. I think that Editor is probably an old fogey who never had a childhood! Personally, I am enjoying my second childhood and I enjoyed your poem too. Jackie <> <
I wonder why they didnt like it Sally, no sense of the inner child within us. But, for the record, I think bears are cute, cuddly and totally necessary.
I have on the end of my bed, a little goat, called Paddy, A white Rabbit, called Peter cottontail, and an Sheep called Ewan Mcgregor, LOL, and I dont give a toss hehe.
I like the poem, and it is an idividual choice, but for now, I'm content to behave as childish as I want, collecting farm animals.

This poem is cute in one way, but filled with philosophy in another. I love the use of the seven bears being in the cupboard. Yes, sometimes we do have to put things away, and move forward.
