When someone goes ahead
"Wait, we haven't finished yet;
There's more that must be said!"
"It isn't fair, it isn't kind;
We didn't say goodbye!"
Letting go is the hardest thing
When one is left behind.
Looking back I might admit
It was her time to leave
"But wait, we hadn't finished yet!"
Protestingly, I grieve
"We had so much to talk about,
Oh can't she stay a while?"
And oh, the hardest thing is this;
To let go with a smile.
