It was pretty shocking when Martin Luther King was murdered
We all did our share of mourning
But 1968 held not any pleasantries
You see the running candidate for the Democratic Party
He had just been gunned down after he gave his speech.
I am getting tired of walking by that black and white television
All I get to see anymore is someone being shot down.
It was another professional hit, and planned as well
Only the professionals can hit their target without nicking
Anyone else
I watched as Bobby Kennedy lay in a pool of blackess goo
That black and white TV could only let you imagine what the colors were.
What a rotten year, one of double mourning
The United States was silent in some parts as we grieved
Other parts of the States had their own little wars
Those weren’t being shown on the black and white TV
Or maybe I wasn’t walking by that day
