Quilts pieced together from different patches of cloth
kept me warm and cozy many nights,
sewn with loving finger tips, never store bought, bearing pieces of material from an old dress
my Mom once worn.
Feeling safe and secure as an infant newborn, expressing emotions of love with a hug
and a kiss each and every night before turning off the light.
Grandma has been laid to rest.
God, you have taken from me the woman who guided me from wrong to right.
Please take care of her -she's the best.
And when she comes your way down that tunnel of light, don't forget when I'm laid to rest to keep the light burning bright.
Contraband Marriage, traveling along the hemline of loving after incarceration, is a love story written in lyric and free form, set in reality with a different ever after.
God Bless,
