Graphic and penetratingly shocking, Sandra - and, sorry, but I use the word of course without jest, and with extreme thoughtfulness... this really rocked me... I think it was the polka dots on the headband that did it... and the fact that he could hold back both her little fighting hands by just one of his. You have brought this so hair's-breadth close with your use of such descriptive and powerful telling detail. Such anguish and pain is almost beyond my capability to imagine. Thank you for raising such issues again on the Den so that we can all share and lament the awefulness of this childhood tragedy. This evil is done daily. I scream about it everywhere. Child molestation is evil, dirty, a sin that need to be punished. It is a shame that the society has degenerated to such an abysmal depth that oftentimes we are helpless. Great write. Keep it up and continue to follow your heart. This poem is so strong and emotional.

Very powerful, Sandie, from the first stanza I was afraid to read further. My heart started to pound. I hate these types of tales because they tear at my heart and get me riled up, and I get even more angry knowing that if it went to trial, the girl would probably be sent to jail because society still seems to think patricide is the most horrible sin, no matter what the provocation. Yet even He who said "honor your father" also inspired an apostle to write "provoke not your children to wrath." Once a little soul has been subjected to repeated abuse, how can we hold it accountable to the same standards we do those who have only known true love from their parents? Whenever I hear stories like this, I weep.
You have captured the horror all too well. But at least he got what he deserved. Thanks to corrupt and-or plain stupid judges, abuser after abuser gets off with a slap on the wrist. . .if he ever makes it into the system. That is good for the bastard for all molestors and abusers need this. Sorry for cursing though but I hate this kind of behavior but it is also a freedom to write about it.

Good. Horrible. Just end for the sonofabitch. Now she needs to find mother and rip her fucking heart out. What about this so-called "motherly love" we keep hearing about? For a mother to allow this to go on without doing everything in her power to stop it is just as much at fault as hubby. Fuck her too. I got a bit carried away, you want to erase my profanity-laced comments, feel free.
Written with expertise Sandie! You did a beautiful write on a horrific subject! We live in a sick society, and the trouble is even when wives do turn their husbands in many times the authorities treat it like family affairs that they don't want to get involved in. Having said that, it does not excuse mothers who don't immediately get help,when they first learn this is happening! It's horrendous to allow it to continue, that makes her equally guilty!
