A face within a face

by Debashish Haar — Read all 156 poems by Debashish Haar

Saturday, March 3, 2007

A face, a mask and lies:
a face within a face.
A face pierced by eyes.
A face, a mask and lies
gather in empty eyes,
fuse, diffuse and erase
a face, a mask and lies:
A face within a face.

An exquisite array in a shorthand poetry form of the simple concept of faces and lies, lies and faces. Oh, how I've managed to live through so much of what you explore here. Working with actors, writers and directors for so many years has taught (sometimes merely informed me of that which was without understanding)me of such behaviors where emotions remain in crisis. Many seeking drug relief. Some conquering the invasion of outside pressure to coexist in that corrupted area of distorted emotions. So well versed... so succinct and without elaboration. Bravo. Namaste.

This has the effect of making me want to scratch away wherever there might be a chink... in masks, usually only the sensorial orifices. The itch to find what lies beneath the skin is very well conveyed here. These lines kinda linger beneath skin-deep. TY K xx

You certainly bring the reader "face to face" with the concept of two-faced human beings. Thanks, Debs. Love and peace,

This is a definite break down of what the statement " two faced" means. Great piece!

Well my attempt to tell you what this means to me never judge a face before knowing the trueness or structure behind the mask put forth in present. A Face within a Face reminds me of one that has a mask over the trueness of whom we are seeing. It has been awhile since you posted and this is non-less your provoking style to make the reader join in a journey which often leaves them still provoked and speculating your depth and meaning of the poetry......

Peace,
Joselyn
