November Sunrise

by Debashish Haar — Read all 156 poems by Debashish Haar

No McShame/Pain, please!

Monday, November 3, 2008

He is seen among the massive columns
in the early November sunrise
near common faces in the market,
standing on the escalator of reforms,
holding a torch as if to keep
the Great Lakes from freezing.

Certainly he stands for a change,
and not to lift a few pages
from socialism textbooks.
The man he would replace
has socialized the toxins
of the financial behemoths.

Without this change we
will live under a deranged
infant wearing a Golden shoe
with bloody diamond spikes
crushing the world under the feet.

hmmm... this seems to speak of how everyone in the United States seems to think Obama is going to be the hope of tomorrow. Everyone -- or almost everyone - thinks he'll bring change. I guess this could speak of any politician. Politics cannot bring resolution to the world's ills. Only that can be achieved with a more spiritual answer.
