Poem Artwork
People see the sky,
the entire sky,
The sky is owned by all,

and is the complete sky.

Charmed at their pie of moon
and see the entire moon,
the moon is owned by all,

and is the same full moon.

Each breath, as they find it,
is same for all,
taking a stroll in a park,
or flying a jet to cross the atlantic,

or living in the stench and dirt.

The air for everyone

isn't the same air.

The pie of wealth and hunger
are not equal.
Not everyone can afford a seven course meal,
not everyone gets a full meal.
Whatever is seen in displays
for window shopping or auction

are meant to be seen by all.

The bread being baked in the oven
in the nearby posh restaurant,

is not the bread made for all.

What ticks in everyone's watch
Is not the time for all.
This moment....

Much wisdom and I've often wondered why life can be so unequal and what we can do to make it less so.

In American political language, entitlements are government assistance to those you have described in your poem who don't have the same opportunity, for various reasons, as the so-called middle-class and above are privy to.

Welfare is often looked down upon by people who claim they work very hard for their money, although many with a college education just sit behind a desk and talk.

The real dole is not with the poor and down and out, but with the ultrarich. Because there is no inheritance tax for wealth passed down. The benefactors of this wealth have their favorite charities and foundations enabling them to live like royalty without paying any taxes. While their assets reach for the stars, to be passed on to their heirs.

Strong people rarely have an easy past. "The world does not cater to the whims of the self-centered; it rewards the efforts of the selfless." Thank you for this unvarnished insight. Peace... rlc

Great to see you post again, Debashish. The time measured on our watches is not the same time for all. Omnia mors aequat. Death is the great equalizer. Excellent observations.
