Each day I find a thirst that goes
unsatisfied for lack of proper drink.
each day I find that lack of light
that leaves a body cold, unwarmed
today I come both chilled and thirsty
and yet I am offered naught to warm my soul.
The people are selfish and only care
for that which clothes them and feeds their maw
to offer a stranger a drink or warmth
is much beyond their generosity.
An angel lives that changes the way
that people see their brother’s ills
convinces them that helping others
is a rule that gives them holy intent
and makes the road to heaven smoother.
This angel is a loving mother
who cares for others unconditionally
her children are blessed with charity and love
and receive reward in heaven.
If I could, a blessing be given
To all the world so cold and thirsty.
Is to start the day with a loving smile,
Only love can bring.
May all the world be blessed with mothers
who see the way that God intended
for all of us to care for each other
as brothers and sisters, a family well cared for
