I sit and contemplate the ending day
The sky’s light dims, the heat has gone
The buzz of insects near my ear
And night birds sing their lullabys
The cars fly by but now are less
And street lights start to waken
And I sit within my lingering thoughts
In daylights glare all things seemed clear
All thoughts like bright gold pennies
But night time comes and doubts creep in
Like gnarled branches ‘neath a dim-lit sky
Thoughts creep black like lurking burglars
Dark shadows of its daylight twin
The twill twilight, where pastels shift onto darker shadows, amidst approaching starlight, your words dew shift YOUR evening verse quill of refinement.
now I feel as if I've visited the dark side of the moon, which is never seen but figured out quite appropriately. Actually, as you said in your nicely arranged verse, we don't need to see in the dark, we need to perceive there. Cheers, alex
Your poem shows a certain apprehension in the night. I always approach night as another part of the day with its own magic and appeal. Sorry that you feel differently, but I'm sure you have had some magic nights in your life.
