A look back at an old memory of a friend.

The sun stood still for a moment in time
when two young girls would no longer
play together, no longer be best friends.
The days were filled with playing records,
singing, dancing and giggling about boys.
Spinning in circles going round and round
falling on the grass, laughing all the while
staring at the sky as it spins endlessly.
Suddenly the sun stopped as the sky fell
silently, soberly to become one
with the ground.It happened while
she was home and her father was at work.
A freak accident, the kind that just doesn't
seem real. The world changed like a door
opening to a black abyss. Innocence
was destroyed that day as two lives met death
in their own way. Laughter ceased and the sun
hid behind the clouds. Time moved on as a girl
grew into a woman with a hardened heart
created by life but in that heart lives the memory
of a young friendship.
