A secret place of mine where I can go to absorb the beauty of nature and refresh my spirit.

Bridge of Wonders

Girders gold and bright and new

Over waters green and blue.

Sunlight glistening over all,

Blinding as I stare in awe.

Water calm and peaceful still

As though drawn by artist skill.

Soft green grass beneath my feet,

Hills alive with purple heath.

Eagles bold and beautiful fly

Across the blue and cloudless sky.

Fresh and cooling is the breeze

Whispering gently through the trees.

Bridge of wonders, as I gaze,

Sunset wondrous in golden haze.

The verses are lyrical and a delight to the tongue.
The imagery is striking and powerful.
O, that everyone would have such a wonderful place to visit to enjoy the wonders of Man and Nature and to refresh the soul and spirit!

I am blessed by my own rose garden which I visit daily with loving labor, and blessed by nearby lakes on which I paddle my canoe regularly enjoying the beauty and quiet of God's creations.

But for those shut-in or foreclosed from such pleasures, closing the eyes and letting the imagination create a private paradise is another blessing from God available to all. Poetry like this builds a bridge to such imaginings.

Elizabeth, your Bridge of Wonders is a creative wonder!
As always, your words are magical.

Such serene splendor. I wish I had a place like this still. For me it was climbing high into a tree as a child to relax and read and dream. Beautiful poem. Liz
