Speck of Dust
For so long we have been so many things to each other_
Lovers, friends, companions, even enemies.
Your leaving devastates me.
“We’ll still be friends,” you say.
As if in the saying, your leaving will be less devastating.
I have loved you, yes given all I had to give,
But you say it’s not enough.
I wonder what more I could have given?
I have given my all_
My body, my heart, even my soul.
Given all to you_ I held nothing back.
My heart now bleeds at thought of your leaving.
You say you love me, but only as a friend.
What of the passion we shared?
Do only friends share such passion?
You speak platitudes. I die a little more.
The strong hand of pain takes hold of mine.
I know he’ll be my companion for a very long time,
But when he takes his leave, and he will.
I will still be here_ Stronger than before.
When that time comes, what we had together_
Will be as nothing more than a speck of dust on forever.

Move on move up, he's not worth the dogs dinner...platitudes I hate that, its the death knell...
Very poignant piece. Life sometimes strenghtens us with its ups and downs.

The saying "what does not kill you, makes you stronger"
stands to reason and truth. Hope and blessings for a
quick healing of the heart and soul.
