yes Robert----another one taken----in a long list of casualties---the young and not so young
after the bugles have become silent and the 21 gun salute has rend the air-----the flag has been folded----a greateful nation pays homage and moves on.
his name is on the Martyrs list and all has evened out-----to the world he is just statistics------but to the parents---his wife---his kids---his loves-----life can never be the same again.
i have lost a son------an officer in the Indian Army-----and i can understand the pain in these lines.

Very well done. It's a terrible thing to be at war, and even worse when there's no sane reason for it. The soldiers who die there, of course, are among the many victims of a senseless invasion of a sovereign nation that had never attacked us. The CIA knew in 2002 that Saddam Hussein disliked bin Laden intensely, and had no connection with him, but the supposed "connection" was used to start a war that can have no justifiable outcome. Anyway, good job on the poem.
The price is beyond comprehension, but it is because of their sacrifice that we are free...a heartwrending, beautifully moving tribute, very well penned.

They should never be forgotten, because they are the real heroes who protect the world from things like nazis, terrorists, etc. not government leaders alone. This is great war poetry with a balanced view.
