Midnight Poetry

Beneath the light of liquescent moon

He wandered from my bed

Where only just an hour before

He had loved me into waves of dream

Taking possession of my heart

Hypnotized with the passion in his eyes

Lusting with love in his soul

Claiming me for his own

I lay encompassed by his warmth

Imprint of moist kisses lingered on my neck

Our energy now drained

In  sweet slumber

Attuned to the rise and fall of his chest

An accustomed hirsute calidity

Against the bare hollow of my spine

Breathing in unison

But I felt him rise

Turn from the linens of my bed

My breast now naked

Void of his gentle hand

A sudden chill as blankets

Were no match

For the warmth of blended core

As I feigned sleep

He walked quietly across the floor

Away from our four-postered paradise

In moonlight silhouette

A shadow slipping in silence

And with the dawn I awakened

Wrapped in warmth of an extra blanket

Radiance of his body’s heat

My hair in pillow patterned curls

Beneath his loving gaze

Delicious green to green

Morning's hazel eyes

How long had his made love to mine

When had he needed to cover me

As I slumbered

Yet when I questioned his nocturnal leave

He insisted it was but mere dream

Groaning as he stretched

Teasing and tantalizing with his smile

And lure of morning need...

But I knew better

This was not my dream, but his…

Sleepless dreams of a restless mind

That uncontrollable, untimely urge

The nudge of his muse at her unruly hour…

His dreams were syllables and words

In starlight’s silence punctuated

The lilt and laughter of his soul

That verse

Now leather journal bound

He penned for me

In the ebon of midnight poetry

Taylor,

One of my all time favorites of yours. Your word usage is exquisite my friend. There are just so many beautiful lines. I think I'll go back and read it again.

What an exceptional and romantic write, Taylor. Your lovely imagery simply flows with emotion and yes, a subtle sensuality. It's the incredible love I read here that puts the "g" in goosebumps for me -- again, a most exceptional and romantic write.

Taylor, the beautiful way you taunt us and then make the wonderful twist with the ending - it is too spectactular for a simple review! Your poem is akin to a mini-romance-novel - sweet and short and exceedingly well-crafted. Please give us more like this!

And... yes, do tend to paint passion and lust in such a tactul tryst of emotion that ... ahem... leaves no need for pictures; the words themselves paint the heat upon this reader's heart and thoughts in overtones and undercurrents of most "devastating" strokes!-- Jeff

Taylor, do you know how many times I have read this, saving it up for review?? Must be AT LEAST 20, and I'm not exaggerating - even for me! This has to rate as one of the most perfectly expressed love poems, in terms of craft, sentiment and palpable projection, that I have EVER read - again, no hype. I am left seriously unable to express what this does to me. Both intelligent and sensuous, your package here of passion and perfect love, understanding and companionship is a total delight. I am AWED. Wish this old gasbag could do better, but even on this 20th visit, the power of this poem still floors me. One of those je-ne-sais-quoi moments, for reasons I SHOULD be able to adequately express because the flawless talent here is just so naked. But nope. Breathless and satisfied deep into that "blended core" am I. Queen of The Romantics, you are KNOCKOUT. I soooooooooo look forward to every seed and grain you can share with us of your burgeoning poetic fruit in the coming year. A very Happy New Year to you, darlin Taylor. LOL K xx Hirsute calidity.... WOOOOOOWWWWWW!!

Such sweet passion filled poetry defies my ability to remain detached and simply comment as a lover of verse. Instead, I find myself drawn into that "four-postered paradise" wanting to be him, this man who has claimed the heart of the poet muse. This is probably your finest work Taylor, although this is not the first time I have been drawn in to your poetic world, wanting to remain there and never leave. Your talent for conveying intimacy through meticulous word choice and images that astound the reader is unique and the thrill of reading your work is something which I always anticipate with wonder and excitement. Richard is so right, "you truly are becoming the goddess of romantic writes!"
Your friend,
~Butch

Sweet, soft and gentle emotion,...how well you capture the fire of deep passion, those tender moments that linger forever in the memory ...I sense a longing for time to stand still here. There is much to muse upon between these two muses ;) Truly beautiful...you just get better and better. Love to you Tay. Panda :)x

this made me smile...for I am one of those who will follow my muse regardless of the hour...my wife has gotten use to my nocturnal wanderings as a result.
I agree this is a wonderful love poem, but it is about two kinds of love methinks...one is the intimate and delicate communication between lovers...the other is commitment and understanding of a lover for her lover...one who follows the muse.
Excellent work here my friend.

OK ... I started sweating orchids.

The peace that permeates this write is like an infusion of camomile tea, entwined with the sussurations of leaves blowing in a gentle breeze.

Dear Taylor ... you have again reached another pinnacle of personal expression. Brava! You are becoming the goddess of the romantic writes!

Taylor, My Dear... and talented writerFrilend: I had the book sold only half way through. But, you changed the whole thing... into a beautiful tribute to love and the love of words.

This is, without debate, your best to date. It is a wonderful lesson in dedicated theme writing. After two readings, I know you are a poet's poet.
