The Story of Bob and Jim

One cold dark winter evening,

The snow was coming down,

I saw a man with luggage,

Wondering into town.

He stopped to ask a favor,

Could he maybe hitch a ride?

I pushed the car door open,

and said 'well come inside".

I asked him what his name was,

he said " my name is Jim,"

His face looked so familiar,

I kept staring back at him.

"I have traveled far this evening,"

Jim said with a twinkle in his eye,

I could not help but wonder,

What a mysterious kind of guy.

Jim spoke of distant countries,

He was by far an Intelligent man,

He was built just like a Roman,

And he had a  deep dark tan.

Jim asked me what my name was,

I said "my name is Bob,"

He asked me where I came from,

And if I had a job.

I said I was a traveler,

I had seen both sea and shore,

But my kids give me a reason,

Why I don't travel anymore.

Jim's face looked mighty puzzled,

As I spoke about my youth,

And the brother that had left me,

Because I spoke the truth.

And when I finished talking,

I looked at Jim and said,

" I really loved my brother"

"But I fear that he is dead."

Then Jim became real quiet,

As he turned his head away,

He tried to find the courage,

For the words he had to say.

"Your brother is very much alive"

" I know this to be true "

" Because your brother is sorry"

" For the way he treated you"

I turned around to look at Jim,

And the tears that filled his eyes,

Were tears of desperation,

Filled with love of family ties.

I knew right from that moment,

That all his hurt had been set free,

And that cold dark winter evening,

Brought my brother back to me.
