Bronze hills against powder blue skies,
Azure waters run along stone strewn land,
Majestic pines and mighty oaks
Proudly hold their mighty branches high,
To house delicate nests brimming with new life.
Scarlet petals on long jade stems
Vividly unfurl with amazing grace,
Golden rays and white whispers,
Scattered in bunches upon the deep brown earth
Take in nourishing energy from the sun.
Gentle breezes sift through forest leaves
And gently kiss the bronzed cheek
Of the child beneath who drinks in
The glory of God's magnificent earth,
Dark eyes full of admiration and wonder.
Here, peace and joy enfold him,
Calms his heart, feeding his imagination
With animated images of dancing sparrows
Flying high in the Shinnecock sky,
Welcoming the child's marvel in the miracle of life.
In the distance snowcapped mountains reign,
As the clouds hug the rugged surface
And the falling water carves its name,
So does the aura of earth's beauty
Define nature as being one with God.

I enjoyed the savoring of SHINNECOCK DREAMS. This poem was like viewing a beautifully rendered painting captured with the innocence of a child and the skill of a master artist.
Very well written ...
