Lo, the sanctity of life
Perched hungry on a sill
Ecclesiastically reddened
Our “belonging to” fills . . .

O’ eminence of the snow!
In vermilion and rose . . .
With flurry all surrounding
He’s stilled, claret and robed!

Dignified in beauty
Evergreen brier, brings. . .
The red-hatted bird
Under a guise, Cardinal's sing . . .

I love this, Kimmy, one for the library. I love cardinals, and I've yet to read a better written poem to honor them, love the classical style of this, excellent.

Reminds me of NY when I first saw a Red Cardinal. I had no idea such dick dicks exist. Every time we tried to take its picture the bloody thing knew and flew.

...and they sing like no other...years ago I named a cardinal 'Bo' as it came to the same tree every day and evening to sing...wonderful poem Kimmy
