There’s a long story behind this one. A few years ago, I met a woman who wanted to be my friend. I immediately didn’t like her, so I tried to avoid her. Our children atteneded the same school though, and we had to work together at school events. After getting to know her better, I realized why I didn’t like her…she was very abrasive and competitive. In any case, after noticing my disdain for her, she launched a vicious smear campaign against me in our community. I was able to recover, with the help of good friends, but as you can see in the piece below, I was QUITE miffed about it. There was some comfort in learning that she’d done this to others as well. Those folks told me that she had a bunch of personal problems--her husband was treating her badly; she had financial problems, etc., and that’s what caused her to lash out at others. In any case, she was fond of saying that people were jealous of HER…which is what inspired this piece. I found it recently, and it made me think—Thank Goodness I wrote it down, instead of speaking it…Whew!
I used to be angry
Now I feel sorry
For I know you are
Mentally wobbly.
You have become
Scathing dialect;
Ignorant sensibility;
A human defect.
A poisoned spirit
Refusing to see
Treachery toward others
Can only be
A response of evil.
Jealousy you think!
Your warped mentality
Leads you to the brink
Of madness, we see
When you stink of sweat
Because of another
Coming revenge threat.
Abortion, an option
Your Mom explored,
With goal to eliminate
The demon that bored
Into her loins--
She must regret now
The pain that produced
YOU! Spotted cow!
Wow, Wendi, it IS good you wrote it down instead of blasting her. Your anger shines through loud and clear. Very cleansing to do that on paper.

CJ
Wendi I have too experienced someone such as this, I worked with her many years ago. She too wanted to be my friend and when things did not go as she thought they should she spread vicious rumors about me. It took a while to overcome, for most of the doubt was in my own mind of what others would think. I'm not sure what her reasons were for, but she did others the same as me. I saw her not so long ago, I smiled and walked on...whew the things that I thought! I had to pray hard to hold my tongue. The sad thing about situations such as this, the person who is contributing all of the hurt, must really be hurting deep down inside...but we're only human and thank God we have a pen to express and release much of the hostility...Great write...I'm sure that we are not alone in this one.
